lgbtq
Aparently, this question is getting asked more and more often nowadays, so let me put in my two cents worth. Are polyamorists part of LGBTQ+? And I don't mean those who, like myself, are both pansexual and poly, or both trans and poly, because of course we are. I mean: does polyamory itself make you part of the community?

“A” in LGBTQIA+ stands for asexual, aromantic & agender – not for “ally”.
Being an ally is not a gender / sexual / romantic minority.
Being an ally is just basic human decency.
For me, gender is over.
Not in a sad, “Game Over” way.
In a happy, “Mission accomplished” way.

Under a news that yet another church keeps being an asshole towards queer people some guy is asking why don't they just ignore it and find a better church.
Oh the privilege...
This post is not about gays. It's about maths.

It’s sad, being a member of a minoritised community and seeing some of its members turn against the others. Like in case of that twitter discussion on whether or not “weird looking” people and drag queens should be allowed to represent us, or even mention publicly that they are queer, for fear of giving us a bad reputation.
I used to be that asshole who answers “no” to this question.

My bio says I’m “pan/gay”, which might seem pretty self-contradictory, right? It’s one or the other, right?
Well, here’s why:

So it turns out, coming out is still something that I have to do sometimes . Surprisingly, though, it’s the other way around now. That’s a brand new experience to me
So here it goes:

Homophobes get offended when I compare their anti-LGBTQ bigotry to racism.
Good.
It might be obvious for most people, (you know, those who know the meaning of words), but apparently, judging from the tweet above and the answers to it, (where Polish right-wingers show WNBR as an example of how the LGBTQ community has “deprived” the West), some people still confuse naturism with exhibitionism and they think that it’s gay...
Well, here’s why it’s neither of those things:

Religion is bullshit – that’s a claim I can get behind, defend and back up with solid arguments. However, one has to have some empathy and understanding for people who do believe in it.

I’m sick and tired of biggots treating me hatefully because of my sexual orientation.
Especially, if they are catholic. Why? Because they have even less of a moral highground than the other biggots. Here’s the logic:

– Morning! How was your weekend?
– Morning! Well, we went do Poland to visit my boyfriend’s family and we...
– Oh, so you have a boyfriend? That’s ok. You know, I have gay friends.
– Erm... OK... So what? I have gay friends too. And straight friends... What’s your point?

At first I didn’t really think about it. It was yet another thing that my parents taught me and I just accepted. Boys and girls need to have separate toilets and locker rooms, so that the boys wouldn’t do nasty things to the girls. Simple.
But one day a cleaning lady came in to the boys’ locker room. And one day a female teacher come in. How come? Why can they see half-naked boys, while our female classmates cannot? That got me thinking and trying to find any sense in that.

It is a scientific consensus based on tons of studies: children of same-sex parents are just as happy, healthy and successful as the ones in “traditional” families.
The only difference is that they have to face the discrimination because of who raises them.
So if you really cared about children’s well-being so much, you wouldn’t deny them the chance of getting adopted by some loving same-sex parents. If you want children to be happy, science tells you to stop discriminating LGBT people, not the opposite.
I think it’s outrageous that the vote on marriage equality has been blocked for 12 years because of some personal whimsies of Angela Merkel. Even though an overwhelming majority of Germans supports it, even though a majority of Bundestag seems to support it as well, even if being treated equally by the authorities is a basic human right – it never got through.
And suddenly, Merkel gives one statement that is less anti-LGBTQ than usually, and everybody goes nuts, everything seems that we can finally get it done.
Being gay is not easy. Depending on where you live, it might mean different things to you. Best case scenario – some minor inconveniences. Worst case – even danger of death. LGBTQ youth has a higher suicide rate than their straight & cis friends, they fear getting disowned by their families, thrown out of their homes, in some countries being sentenced to prison or lashes... We don’t have equal rights, we can’t always show affection in public. Being gay can be scary, lonely and awful.
But there is also a good side to that. The side of being gay that I really really love!

Even as a cis man, I’ve experienced how awful gender roles are. There’s always someone questioning your masculinity, someone always know better, what it takes to be a “real man”, don’t they? Especially if you’re gay. Because, you know, fucking some sweaty, muscular dude in the ass, is so... delicate, so feminine, isn’t it? Ask any homophobe...
